The Inspired Way

Every coach. Every pool. The same standard.

The Inspired Way is our own structured teaching approach, designed to support our coaches and create a more consistent learning experience across all our locations.

The problem we set out to solve

If you've signed up for swim lessons before, you may know the feeling. A new coach or a new pool, and lessons look different from last time. You're left wondering whether your swimmer is actually moving forward.

The quality of your swimmer's lessons shouldn't depend on which coach you happen to get.

That's why we built The Inspired Way, our own structured teaching approach, developed over the past year from the experience and knowledge of our coaching team. We aren't simply putting coaches in the water and asking them to follow the Swim for Life levels. We're investing in how those skills are taught.

Built on Swim for Life

Lifesaving Society Swim for Life logo

We follow the Lifesaving Society's Swim for Life® program, which provides the foundation for the skills and water-safety knowledge our swimmers develop. The Inspired Way builds on that foundation by giving our coaches additional teaching guidance, resources and a shared approach to delivering lessons.

How we teach it

The Inspired Way

Teaching guidance, resources and a shared approach that help our coaches plan and deliver lessons to a consistent standard, adapted to each swimmer.

What they learn

Swim for Life levels

The Lifesaving Society's skills, progressions and water-safety knowledge. Your swimmer keeps progressing through the Swim for Life levels.

What it means for your swimmer

  • The same standard, wherever you swim

A more consistent experience across all our locations and coaches, so the quality of lessons doesn’t depend entirely on which coach you happen to get.

  • Clearer skill development

Clear guidance and instruction as your swimmer builds skills through the Swim for Life levels.

  • Attention on your swimmer

Shared guidance isn’t a script. Your coach still responds to your swimmer’s abilities, confidence and learning needs.

  • Thoughtful, organized lessons

Confidence that your swimmer is being taught within a thoughtful, organized approach to planning and delivering lessons.

  • Water safety at the core

Swim for Life covers water-safety knowledge as well as swimming skills, and our approach keeps that focus on water safety.

How it shows up

The Inspired Way is part of how we train coaches, plan lessons and teach day to day.

Coach training

The Inspired Way is part of how our coaches are trained. Coaches receive training and supporting resources, so everyone teaches from a common foundation.

Lesson planning

Coaches get practical support for lesson planning, teaching and skill development, and a shared approach to delivering lessons.

In the pool

Physical teaching resources are provided at every one of our locations, so the approach carries through into day-to-day teaching in the water.

The goal isn't identical lessons. Every swimmer learns differently, and our coaches still adapt to each swimmer's abilities, confidence and learning needs.

What's shared is the standard: thoughtful, organized instruction at any Inspired Swim location, with a coach who responds to your swimmer as an individual.

“The Inspired Way doesn't replace Swim for Life. It strengthens how we teach it, helping us deliver a consistent standard of instruction while recognizing that every swimmer learns differently.”

Questions parents ask

  • Does The Inspired Way replace Swim for Life?

No. We follow the Lifesaving Society's Swim for Life program, which provides the foundation for the skills and water-safety knowledge our swimmers develop. The Inspired Way doesn't replace or compete with Swim for Life. It supports how we teach it.

  • Will my child still progress through the Swim for Life levels?

Yes. Swimmers keep progressing through the Swim for Life levels. You can see what each level covers on our swim levels page. Go to swim levels

  • Do all Inspired Swim coaches use it?

Yes. The Inspired Way is built into our coach training, lesson planning and day-to-day teaching. Coaches receive training and supporting resources so they share a consistent approach to planning and delivering lessons.

  • Does that mean every lesson is the same?

No. The goal isn't identical lessons. Coaches still adapt to each swimmer's abilities, confidence and learning needs. What's shared is the standard, so the quality of instruction doesn't depend entirely on which coach your family gets.

  • Is The Inspired Way used at every location?

Yes. The Inspired Way is our shared approach across all our locations, and physical teaching resources are provided at every one of them. Families should be able to attend lessons at any Inspired Swim location and receive the same standard of thoughtful, organized instruction, while still having a coach who responds to their individual needs.

  • Can I see the teaching materials?

The specific methods, activities and materials are internal to our coaching team. If you'd like to know how your swimmer is progressing, ask your coach about what your swimmer is working on and what comes next. You'll also find progress updates in your swimmer portal.

Because swimming is more than an activity. It's a life skill.

Whether your swimmer is just beginning to feel comfortable in the water or working toward their next set of skills, our goal is the same: to provide high-quality instruction that helps them progress, build confidence and develop skills that last a lifetime.
